In May I will have a new Desire out—Mistress For a Month. The story line goes as follows:

Practical Amelia Weatherbee is not nearly so glamorous as the rest of the women in her family. She owns a thriftshop and has been in a going-nowhere relationship with a surfer way too long. Then on the same day two events shock her into changing the course of her life.

First, she is devastated to learn that her madcap aunt, who’d wowed Amelia’s ambitious mother and sister when she’d married the late Count de Fournier, has died and left her a charming chateau and vineyard in Provence that unhappily the present Count de Fournier feels is rightfully his.

Second, Amelia’s surfer boyfriend jilts her because she’s “boring” and “old”. Feeling very much the ugly duckling, Amelia heads to France to claim her inheritance and reclaim her self-esteem.

On her way she “accidentally” bumps into a gorgeous Frenchman. Sparks fly. Unfortunately, Amelia soon learns that her new friend is none other than the present Count de Fournier, a notorious former Formula I driver, who has a scandalous reputation with women as well as a tragic past. Thus, they had not met by chance.

He wants the vineyard, and she wants what only a charismatic man of his lady-killer reputation can teach her—lessons in love.

When he offers to buy the vineyard, she has one condition. He must make her his mistress for a month and teach her to be sexier and feel that she is beautiful.

The affair is great fun—until practical Amelia realizes she’s falling in love with her lady-killer lover.
